Asia Group Management, Ltd. ("Orchid Asia")
is an investment group with offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing,
Guangzhou and
San Francisco. We focus on backing experienced executives in
building franchises in Asia, with an emphasis in China. We seek
to invest in expanding domestic enterprises in high barrier to entry businesses that have good
growth prospects in the consumer services and products sector,
as well as the outsourced manufacturing and services sector.
Orchid Asia manages Orchid Asia III, L.P., an investment partnership
that has capital commitments from a group of leading institutional
investors and high net worth families. Orchid Asia's managing
partners make substantial contributions in finance and strategy,
but rely upon the executives to manage the operations of business.
The principals of the firm have extensive experience in investing
in China and Asia.
Orchid Asia has invested in China for over 10 years and is one of the first international private equity investors in China. We led the first round investment for Ctrip.com International (NASDAQ:CTRP), a leading travel service company specialized in discounted air ticket and hotel reservation in China, which achieved a successful listing on the NASDAQ in December 2003. We also invested in the first round of Eachnet, the largest online auction company in China, which was sold to eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) at a US$225 million enterprise valuation in June 2003. Orchid Asia also led the first and second round of investments in Zhaopin Limited, a leading online recruitment company in China. Our decade long investment experience and our brand name in the market uniquely position us to take advantage of the trend in financing growing private companies in China.
